Message to the Dunnies

To the Dunnies:

Congratulations on a great year guys. As I said before, we are the best senior team in the country. We may have ended up second at the Allan Cup but when you play a tournament only team that is flown in from all over Western Canada it just shows you how good you guys really are. We are truly a community based amateur team that plays like a pro team. You guys should be very proud of what you have accomplished. We have maintained the Dunnies name as a very proud hockey name and also put the Town of Whitby firmly on the hockey map.

Speaking of the Town of Whitby, Mayor Brunelle and his council would like to recognize the players at the May 8th council meeting. Additionally, they are planning a rally at Iroquois Park where they will introduce each one of you to your fans where you will be presented with a special award from the Town of Whitby. This will be held May 13th and will be hosted by Terry Johnston from CKDO.  I will fill you in on the details as soon as they are finalized.

Guys this was an amazing year where you achieved amazing results. We committed to win a championship and we won three of them. There were over 45,000 hits on our web site when you were out west. The radio station had to quadruple it’s internet listener capabilities just to handle the people who wanted to follow you. That is the impact that you made. Remember this guys. The only way it could get better is when we win the Allan Cup next season.

All the best guys

See you soon

Mike Laing
